I would like to say a big THANK YOU to Yasmin and Hamida for coming in to share their family's culture with the class. The students were so excited about your visits. They asked great questions and learned a lot. Thank you so much for taking time to be with us!
Next week we have two exciting events. On Monday, Sept. 21, from 10:40 - 11:20, we will be going to the PTA's Book Fair. The students can purchase up to 4 books. It is suggested they bring between 20 and 60 soles. You are invited to meet us at the Fair to help your child with their selections.
On Tuesday, Sept. 22, the students will have the opportunity to meet a real author and illustrator, Daniel Kirk. We have read several of his books about Library Mouse. The students are looking forward to meeting him.
This is also our last week for this unit. The students will have their summative assessment on Friday.
Last week was a busy week. We had fun celebrating International Dot Day. I have posted pictures of this and other activities on the Look What We Did page. The students are practicing writing clear sentences by creating the captions for the photos. This is an authentic way to use their growing writing skills.
Please continue to read with your child each day and record their books in their Reading Log. The more they read, the stronger readers they will become. I can already see growth in many of the students! Keep up the great work.
On Wednesday, September 30th, we will be participating in a Terry Fox Run here at school. The students can come to school out of uniform in their running attire by paying 5 soles. The money will be donated to the Terry Fox campaign for Cancer. I hope we have a large turnout for this event. I will be sending more information next week in our Newsletter.
Have a great week!
