Sorry for the lapse in our newsletter. As many of you know, my husband had an accident in March as was quite seriously hurt. He is doing so much better now! Thank you for your understanding.
Next week is a short but eventful week.
There are 2 swimming sessions next week. These are the last 2 sessions. The students will swim on Monday, April 11 and Wednesday, April 13th.
There is NO SCHOOL on Thursday, April 14th, and Friday, April 15th due to the AASSA Conference that FDR will be hosting. This Association of American Schools of South America conference will bring in teachers from all over South America. A very big THANK YOU to those students and their parents who have volunteered to come in on Saturday, April 16th, to be part of my Learning Lab. I will be sharing the great math thinking that 1P is doing! Teachers will be watching a lesson and then discussing what learning is taking place. I am very proud and excited to share what we are working on.
We will be finishing up our unit on Sharing the Planet this week. Monday the students will have a family homework assignment on what one or two things you can do as a family to make good choices to help our planet. They will also be taking their unit assessment on Wednesday. We are also wrapping up our writing unit on their Animal Books. They are doing a wonderful job on these. They will be sharing these with you during the Student-led conferences in May. Lastly, we are starting a new unit in Math. Unit 3 was a quick introduction to measuring and data handling. We will be reviewing these skills and putting them to use in our next unit on Matter. We will be starting unit 4 on Monday.
I hope you have all had a wonderful weekend.
